Residents in Jos and other road users have expressed anger over the continuous road accidents on Polo Roundabouts with many of them condemning government failure to do something about the problem.
EtalityBLOG recalled that at least six persons were injured last week when a fuel tanker rammed into several vehicles at the polo roundabouts.
Also, several persons sustained injuries while several cars including tricycles were damaged in another accident involving a heavy-duty truck at the roundabouts on Wednesday evening
Some residents who spoke with with us in Jos on Thursday said a situation where two fatal accidents were witnessed within few days in the area is most disheartening and callous.
They wondered why the Federal Road Safety Commission and the Plateau State Government have failed to find lasting solution to the needless loss of lives of citizens, as if to suggest that these lives don’t matter to them.
They called on the government to provide barricades and speed breakers that will limit the speed of tankers on the highway as a temporary measure without further delay while they work out a detailed redesign of the road and traffic guidelines for the safety of the citizens.
