The initial phase of the project—bush clearing, is currently underway, stretching from Kobin in Sanga LGA, Kaduna State, toward Jos. This mega-infrastructure project is set to drastically improve travel times, enhance safety, and boost trade across multiple states.
THE STOLEN MANDATE: How APC’s Forcefull Imposition in Plateau North Primaries Betrayed Loyalty and Doomed the Party
In the rugged hills and vibrant communities of Plateau North, a profound betrayal has unfolded... one that strikes at the heart of democracy, fairness, and the very soul of the All Progressives Congress (APC). What was billed as a primary election has revealed itself as nothing more than a fraudulent charade, a backroom imposition that has stolen victory from the people’s champions and handed it to unpopular figures who contributed nothing but connections. Popular, grassroots-backed aspirants who embodied genuine hope for the Plateau North Senatorial seat were deliberately sidelined. This is not merely one candidate’s loss, it is the story of a party turning its back on its most faithful supporters and the will of the people.
These popular aspirants did not wait for power to come to them. They walked the length and breadth of Plateau North, from dusty farmlands to bustling market squares, from remote villages to urban wards. They listened to the cries of farmers struggling with insecurity, youths yearning for opportunity, and women demanding better healthcare and education. Everywhere they went, crowds swelled not out of coercion, but genuine affection and overwhelming support. One such aspirant emerged as the clear consensus candidate, carefully chosen after deep and sincere deliberations by the Plateau minority tribes, the backbone of APC in the region since its very inception. These communities, long marginalized yet unwavering in their loyalty, united behind this candidate through the Plateau North Equity Project because they saw integrity, competence, vision, and a genuine commitment to justice.
Yet, in a process that mocked every democratic principle, zero genuine election was conducted. Aspirants were simply imposed. While the popular candidates poured their energy, resources, time, and hearts into exhaustive grassroots mobilization, the imposed candidates reportedly conducted zero visible campaigns... no town halls, no door-to-door engagements, no meaningful connection with the people. The decisions were made in smoke-filled rooms by particular interests that cared nothing for popularity, competence, or the will of the masses. This was not a primary, it was a disgraceful coronation of the unwanted, a deliberate and ridiculous short-changing of the qualified. The entire exercise ridicules the intelligence of party members and exposes the dangerous rot of godfatherism at its worst.
In Plateau North, those who have not contributed anything to APC but rather castigated and call it names are the people enjoying patronage .The question on the lips of every party member is what has happened to party loyalty.
The humiliation inflicted on the Plateau minority tribes is particularly painful and unforgivable. After coming together in good faith, setting aside differences to produce a single, unifying consensus candidate, their collective voice was discarded like an irrelevant footnote. These are the same ardent supporters who have stood with APC through thick and thin, delivering victories when others wavered. Their reward for loyalty? Marginalization, ridicule, and the imposition of unpopular candidates over widely endorsed sons of the soil. This is not leadership... it is political arrogance that spits in the face of the very people who built and sustained the party in this zone.
This imposition is a ticking time bomb for the APC. Party faithfuls who sacrificed for the popular candidates’ visions now feel deeply disillusioned and betrayed. When loyalty is repaid with such contempt, disloyalty becomes not only inevitable but justified. Anti-party activities will surge loud, widespread, and rooted in righteous anger. Why should supporters mobilize for candidates the people overwhelmingly rejected? Why canvass for flagbearers forced upon them against popular will? The consequences will be devastating: mass apathy, voter abstention, defections, and a total collapse of confidence in the party leadership. A party that treats its most devoted members with disdain is a party engineering its own electoral doom.
Party leaders and stakeholders at all levels must rise to this moment with courage and wisdom. The fraudulent scenarios that played out in these so-called primaries threaten to ruin the APC’s image and alienate its core base. Urgent intervention is needed to address this grave injustice, reverse the short-changing of popular consensus candidates, and restore the voice of the minority tribes and the will of the people. Failure to act will not only deepen party disloyalty but risk a massive, self-inflicted failure in the coming elections. True leadership demands the resolve to correct wrongs, uphold internal democracy, and prioritize popularity and competence over narrow interests.
Fellow APC members, especially the resilient minority tribes of Plateau North: your pain is valid, your grievances are loud, and your loyalty deserves respect. The popular consensus candidates represented the best chance for a convincing victory in Plateau North. To rob them and the party of this opportunity is to court disaster.
Plateau North deserves better. The dedicated, people-oriented aspirants earned better. And the APC must do better.. now or watch its foundation crumble under the weight of betrayal. The time for redemption is today, before the dreams of millions turn into regret. Leaders must listen to the people, reject backroom deals, and choose justice over imposition. Only then can the party reclaim its soul and secure its future.

In a powerful display of what happens when young people stop talking and start acting, the Bassa Youths Connect Initiative has just wrapped up a massive educational outreach. Over the course of March 12th and 13th, the group distributed 6,000 exercise books to public secondary schools throughout the Bassa Local Government Area.
This wasn't just a random act of kindness; it was a promise kept.
If you cast your mind back to May 18, 2025, the day of the historic "Bassa Youths Connect 1.0" gathering, the vision was set. A fundraising campaign was launched that day with a singular focus: ensuring students in our public schools aren't held back by a lack of basic supplies.
Today, those 6,000 books represent more than just paper and ink. Under the leadership of Comr. Gideon Koshi Haruna, they have become symbols of hope and a testament to what collective community responsibility actually looks like.
The Bassa Youths Connect Initiative is rapidly becoming the gold standard for youth-driven development in our region. Their mission is three-pronged:
Bringing Bassa youths together under one umbrella.
Preserving the rich cultural tapestry of the Bassa people.
Driving change through philanthropy and hands-on volunteerism.

Only ten days after their maiden summit last year, the group headed to the Zikke Community in Kimakpa District to provide essential food items to families displaced by conflict. While 6,000 books is a milestone worth celebrating, the Initiative isn't slowing down. The leadership is calling on stakeholders, development partners, and well-meaning individuals to join the movement.
