For more than 11 years, the people of Miango in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State have lived without public electricity a reality that has continued to hinder growth, discourage investment, and dim the hopes of many residents.
Electricity is more than just power; it is the engine of development. Without it, businesses struggle to survive, students are forced to study under difficult conditions, healthcare services are affected, and opportunities for innovation become limited. Sadly, this has been the daily reality for the people of Miango.
Over the years, countless appeals have been made by community leaders and residents. At one point, hope was rekindled when the Plateau State Government showed interest in addressing the situation. Many believed that the long-awaited restoration of electricity was finally within reach. However, just as optimism began to grow, the process stalled, leaving the community once again in uncertainty.
In an effort to understand what led to the halt, EtalityBlog reached out to gather information on the matter. Unfortunately, no clear explanation has been provided as to why the project has remained unresolved.
Despite the prolonged silence, a new wave of hope is emerging.
Ras Marley Mandy, a young entrepreneur, philanthropist, and proud son of Miango, has taken a bold step by bringing together creatives from the community alongside content creators from Jos under a common initiative aimed at drawing renewed attention to the electricity crisis. The vision is simple but powerful—to amplify the voices of Miango and advocate for the restoration of power to the community.
Yet, one question continues to linger:
What is truly responsible for Miango's 11-year blackout, and will this new initiative finally bring about the long-awaited solution?
The answers remain uncertain, but one thing is clear: Miango deserves better.

We therefore join our voice with that of the people of Miango in calling on all relevant authorities, electricity stakeholders, and government agencies to urgently intervene and restore electricity to the community.
The people of Miango are not asking for luxury—they are asking for a basic necessity that will unlock economic opportunities, empower young entrepreneurs, support education,
improve healthcare, and restore hope.
Eleven years is far too long. It is time for Miango to shine again.
